Q. How do I know if my MOT is still in date as I've lost my certificate? A. Go to our MOT page and follow the MOT check button.
Q. How soon will the MOT be on the system so I can tax my car? A. Within the hour.
Q. If my current MOT is in date and I have a test before it expires and my car fails. does this mean the current MOT is not valid? A. No, the current valid MOT is still in date and valid. this does not mean your car is roadworthy though, only that it was roadworthy at the time of the previous test.
Q. How long before my current MOT expires can I have my car tested? A. you have 30 days prior to the expiry of your MOT to have a retest. there is no grace period once it has expired.
Q. If i have an MOT before my current MOT expires, can you date it from the expiry of the current one? A. yes this is automatically done. Your new MOT will expire at the same date as your current one.
Q. If my car fails it's MOT, how long do I have to get it repaired to be retested? A. You have 10 working days
Q. How much is a retest? A. If within 10 working days, the retest is free. After 10 working days it's the price of a full retest.
Q. Can you undertake the repairs necessary to get the car though it's MOT? A. Absolutely.
